Referee Foundation Series - Fall Season Schedule

Building the skills necessary to be comfortable refereeing games doesn’t all happen in your one day training session when you become certified. It comes from building a foundation with on going learning. We’re excited to offer a series of webinars specifically designed for new referees and referees with 1–3 years of experience. The Referee Foundations Series will provide practical guidance, ongoing education, and an opportunity to ask questions as you navigate your first few years as a referee.

We know that stepping out onto the field as a referee takes courage and navigating the job responsibilities of being a referee are not always easy. Accepting games, communicating with assignors, managing payments and more. Through our Referee Foundation Series we’re going to help you with all of that.

Don’t know how to accept games? Not getting any games? Don’t know what flags to buy? Unsure if the handball you called last weekend was right? Nervous to tell a coach to stop yelling? This is the series for you!

Each webinar will have two parts. We’ll begin with topics focused on the off-field and administrative responsibilities of referees, including how to use Arbiter, understanding and managing game assignments, communicating with assignors, and navigating some of the common challenges that come with being a referee. There will also be plenty of time for open questions so you can get the answers you need and feel more confident navigating the refereeing world.

The second part of the webinar will focus on ongoing on-field education specifically for referees in their first three years. We’ll dive into the situations you are experiencing on the field, including understanding fouls and handballs, managing coaches, positioning, decision-making, and other common game situations. This will be an opportunity to learn, discuss real-game scenarios, and build your confidence as you continue developing your skills.
